Another fun filled weekend!

Well, we were busy once again :) Yay for spring!

We kicked off the weekend by driving the 2 hours out to Chapel Hill for our annual bluebonnet pictures only to find out that we were too early! Boo! Since we promised Sara that she could jump into the bluebonnets, we did pull over once we saw a nice patch and obliged. But, hopefully we'll be back in the next few weeks once they are fully out. Here are a few snaps...

The next day we took the girls to the League City Easter Egg hunt. Sara had a blast and has really gotten into the Easter thing. She was very excited to meet the Easter bunny, whom she calls "Easter" and insists that "Easter" is a girl. She ran right up to her and gave the bunny a "big fat hug" as she says.

Georgia took it easy and gummed a favorite egg or two. She was not impressed.

Later we went home and dyed our own eggs. We topped off the weekend by hiding and hunting eggs around the house. It is Sara's new favorite game.

Finally, a few dates to mark down on your calendars...

 1. Easter Sunday, of course. We're hosting dinner at our place. Everyone is welcomed to come over around 1 PM and dinner will be ready around 3 PM. Just bring a side and let us know that you will be coming.

2. I've been slacking but I hope to get invites out soon for Georgia Ann's 1st birthday. It kinda snuck up on us. Anyway, mark your calendars for May 8th. More details to follow.

Ride'em Cowgirl!

Last post for the week :)

We all took off work/school yesterday and headed to the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. Sara could not wait for this day to get here. She was so excited when she woke up and realized that it was time to go to the Rodeo and "get her a new cowgirl hat" (she gave her old one to Georgia). She was even more excited when she saw that they were going to wear their matching "cowgirl outfits" that Granny got them. Don't they look cute?

 I did take a few of the two of them together but then accidently deleted those when I ported them over to my computer :( So, I'm sure a mini-shoot will be in their near future.

The very first thing we did was go find Sara a new cowgirl hat. She picked out a straw hat with pink accents. She really wanted the all pink one but they didn't have it in her size.

We then met up with Nana Ruth, Kellie and her kids. Sara had a great time hanging out with Megan and Marissa. She kept asking if they could come to our house. At the rodeo, we went through the petting zoo, saw lots of cows, goats, pigs and chickens, pretended to be a farmer at farm town and went on a few carnival rides. Sara said her favorite part was when she got to ride on her very own white pony (and yes, she insists that the pony is hers). Georgia also had a good time just taking everything in and being in the stoller. Enjoy the pictures.

the "Ball"

Chad's Grandma celebrated her 95ht birthday this past weekend - and, true to form, did it in style. It was a big dinner/dance thing with more than 140 guests. Family came in from all over and we all had a great time.

Because of all the excitement and the promise of a live band, Sara was convinced she was attending a "ball" (she reads a little too much Cinderella). And, she had to go all out for a "ball" which included donning Grandma Doris's sparkling red earrings (clip-ons).

 She was so excited at the ball and couldn't wait to dance. She was up helping Nana Jan with the set up and announcements as well. Right before the slideshow, Sara went on stage to "help" Nana Jan. She saw Chad across the room on the sound stage and yelled "Daddy, you're over there and look I'm up here" :)

As soon as the band started, she asked me to dance and then went right down the list of all her relatives. I don't think she left the dance floor the entire night. A few of the songs inspired her to do a solo dance and wouldn't Chad join her but eventually she gave in.

Georgia also stole a few dances with Daddy but she mostly hung out with cousin Libby and socialized with the ladies.

The funniest part of the entire night was when during the middle of the dance portion, we saw Sara take off for the back of the hall. A little boy around 7 or 8 years old was sitting on the sound stage. She walks right up to him and sits down.

We then see her scoot a little closer. Finally, she works up the courage to start chatting him up.

The next thing we see is the two of them dancing! She had talked an older boy into coming out on the dance floor with her.

 After the dance, she moved on. This girl is going to be T-R-O-U-B-L-E!! Chad was not amused and insisted that I break it up by going over there and telling her she needed to go potty, lol. I didn't and I think she had a great time.

South Padre!!

Woohoo! We spent last weekend in the "Great Valley" (as Sara calls it - she's really into The Land Before Time right now) for Chad's grandma's 95th birthday celebrate (more on that later). On Friday, we had beautiful weather and took the girls out to South Padre Island. We went to the county beach were it was quiet and just gorgeous. I couldn't get over just how blue the water was. Perfect.

Anyway, Sara has gotten over her fear of the waves and pretty much just jumped right in (despite the water being frigid). Chad convinced her it was more fun to play along the shoreline and collect shells because he was not willing to venture into the ice-cold water. They spent a considerable amount of time walking along the shoreline looking for shells. Sara also learned about what she calls "jelly beans" (aka jelly fish) and to avoid them. And, she developed a new fear for seagulls when they pretty much tried to attack her when she was holding out her chicken strip.

Georgia also LOVED the beach. She couldn't get enough of the sand (and tried to taste it a few times). And, she also had fun playing in the water with Daddy. She is much more fearless than Sara was at this age. Georgia also tried strawberries for the first time and ate them up! Enjoy the pictures :)
